Engagement session season is upon us! (or really i’m just doing a better job blogging all of my sessions, since a few of my upcoming blogs were shot a while ago

Every bachelor party needs a bachelorette party, right? That’s what AJ and his friends thought at they went out in to celebrate. The bachelorettes agreed, and the two parties stuck together throughout the night. Megan, a member of the bachelorette party, hit it off with AJ, a bachelor party-goer. New to town, she agreed that it would be cool to hang out. AJ didn’t live in town, but luckily, as a pilot, the gap wasn’t a deal-breaker. And thus it began. The pair just were married in their home state of Michigan last weekend, but I was able to shoot their engagement session here in San Diego before the wedding.

Ana and James: Coronado Engagement Session

Ana and James were the first winners of a free engagement session from our booth at the San Diego Bridal Bazaar!

Luckily, the sun decided to appear for their smoking hot engagement session. Summer in San Diego has finally arrived! (and only midway through August… its about time Mr. Sunshine). But the shining sun didn’t compare to these two… look at this, can’t you just feel the heat between them?

Once in a while, I have a super ’soft’ image that I just adore. This was the first photo to catch my eye when I was skimming through their engagement session. I love how you can just feel the passion between them, and how they are just about to touch lips… but aren’t quite there. The moment right before… the moment of anticipation. Love it!

Tammy + Eming, Tea Ceremony, San Francisco Wedding Photographer

Tammy and E-ming didn’t just have a wedding… they had a wedding extravaganza, and we were lucky enough to shoot (almost) all of it! Tammy and E-ming were legally married in city hall in San Francisco on the appropriately auspicious day. Since it fell in the middle of the week, they had TWO other wedding ceremonies (in addition to myriad other wedding activities). We’ll be blogging other parts of their weddings (yep, more than one!) over the next few days. First up, they had a small ring exchange, followed by the tea ceremony, at Tammy’s parents’ house in San Francisco, on a beautiful sunny day. While the ring exchange wasn’t a “formal” ceremony, it had just as much (if not more) emotion. The light at Tammy’s parents house was simply divine, the excitement was palatable, and gave everything this amazing bright feel. I don’t think we could have asked for a nicer SF day. Amie + Victor, San Diego Wedding Photographer

Another one of my ‘i’m REALLY catching up this time!’ posts! Early last summer, I shot Amie and Victor’s wedding with Emily.

Amie and Victor held their ceremony and wedding at her father’s home in San Marcos. The backyard was amazing – totally meant for entertaining! They had the awesome Natalie there to make sure everything ran smoothly. In addition to their wedding coordinator, they had a DJ AND a band, who were both amazing. Even better? The circulated hors d’oeuvres, which were absolutely delicious (so delicious I kept making the servers stop so I could take pictures of the food… then snag one. Hey, I was pregnant and constantly starving!) And even better than that? The bride and groom! While Amie seemed really nervous earlier in the day, I could see her relax after she saw Victor – she just basked in Victor’s presence.

The ringbearer was adorable!

And the groomsmen were some of my favorite ever – just hilarious. Like neverending jokes, kung-fu fighting, having such a good time hilarious that I was laughing and crying while trying to take their photos.

Look at the butterflies! This went off much better than the previous wedding where the couple had released butterflies… but we’ll get there (someday, hopefully before the summer!)

Molli + Noah Wedding, La Jolla Women’s Club, San Diego Wedding Photographer

As the storms rolled through last Saturday, there was at least one couple who was taking it all in stride. Molli and Noah had the most awesome attitude about the rain and windy weather on their wedding day, held at the La Jolla Presbyterian Church and the La Jolla Women’s Club. Molli and Noah had their first date under unusual circumstances, after an incident with water and her phone… which should have clued us all in to that water would then be apart of their wedding day! Molli and Noah’s first date, set up by a friend, was supposed to be at a Gordon Biersch Brewery. Molli was supposed to confirm the date first with a phone call. But – due to her dropping her phone in the water while getting a pedicure – she couldn’t make the call. As luck would have it, Noah decided to go anyways – just on the off chance that she would be there. She was. And they both described it as love at first sight! As time passed, the relationship grew, until they approached the point in the relationship that Noah knew he was going to propose. Noah planned a big trip to Santa Monica, with the intent of proposing under the fireworks, but what he hadn’t planned on was his impatience in his desire to propose. While sitting at the top of the ferris wheel on the Santa Monica Pier, he popped the question. And (as the pictures below illustrate) we all know the answer! Molli and Noah – I know only Brandon shot your wedding, but I can see from your wedding images that you two are truly in love! We wish you wonderful honeymoon in Spain and all the best in life together.

CASSIE + JUSTIN part 2, Hyatt Mission Bay, San Diego Wedding Photographer

As I promised yesterday, here is the second part of Cassie and Justin’s wedding!

They had a signature cocktail consisting of something green (and from what I heard, yummy, although I did not partake)

While I couldn’t partake in the signature cocktail, they also had a candy bar, which I partook in…. profusely!

Cassie and Justin had an awesome entrance, complete with a line of high-fives!

Midway through the first dance, they broke into a choreographed dance celebrating the 90’s (think the running man, set to ‘Poison’ by BBD)

The toasts were super emotional

Cassie danced with her father…then her mother… then her stepfather… and combined, I think I saw more tears then i’ve ever seen at a wedding!

And I can’t believe i’m showing this, but you can clearly see ME, giant and pregnant (check out the swollen cankles! I had real shoes, but I had to switch to sandals because my feet swelled up so badly)

While Brandon was taking that picture, I was capturing this moment:

The rest of the night was filled with fun and dancing!

Cassie + Justin, Hyatt Mission Bay, San Diego Wedding Photographer

Cassie and Justin used to be co-workers at the Islands in Mission Valley, while each was in college. Cassie’s mom went to lunch with Cassie at Island’s one day, and asked about Cassie’s cute co-worker. ’You should ask him out,’ Cassie’s mom pushed. Cassie did. And thus began a relationship that was truly meant to be, pushy moms aside. Cassie is Brandon’s cousin, so we’ve seen a lot of her. I remember meeting Justin for the first time at Cassie’s graduation party. She seemed a little nervous about subjecting him to her very large and very open family. When he got there, though, she just glowed in his presence. I wasn’t surprised when we heard about their engagement, and we were thrilled when they honored us by asking us to shoot their September wedding at the Hyatt Regency in Mission Bay.

And now… pictures! They are such a good looking couple, and there were so many awesome images, I am splitting the pictures into two posts. So enjoy the first half of their wedding day!

Isn’t Cassie gorgeous?!

It isn’t super obvious, but the bridesmaid on the far right was 38 weeks pregnant! I was proud of myself for shooting a wedding at 33 weeks pregnant… but she upstaged me by far!

Jenna and Nick, the Grand Tradition – San Diego Wedding Photographers

Last Sunday, Brandon shot his first wedding of the year.Jenna and Nick first met in high school. He was a senior boy, she a lowly freshman girl. Years later, they were (appropriately) married on Valentine’s Day, the day of love, at the Grand Tradition in Fallbrook. Disney-o-philes, they had a Cinderella-blue cake covered in bows and table numbers reminiscent of Disney cartoons. And naturally, they celebrated their wedding day by going to Disneyland!

Jenna’s grandmother recently passed away, so when Jenna’s father gave her a hankerchief belonging to her grandmother, she was understandably emotional.

FAQ: Wedding Albums

Genelle & Eric, Calamigos Ranch, Malibu Wedding Photographer

Genelle and Eric were married waaaay back in March at Calamigos Ranch in Malibu. After posting a teaser here, finally, here is the rest of their beautiful wedding! They had a peacock color theme, and used rich jewel colors throughout their ceremony and reception. They also had all kinds of little do-it-yourself projects, my favorite of which was the various pieces of advice handwritten on cards and placed on tables around the cocktail area. As you can see below, Genelle was a stunning bride… and Eric isn’t too bad himself

Kate Baker Floral Design provided the awesome flowers – the bridesmaid’s bouquet was one of my favorite ever!

The recessional is always one of my favorite moments of a wedding day – the joy and excitement is so much fun to capture.

The most memorable moment of the night – in Genelle’s dad’s speech, he was recounting memories from when Genelle was little, and while talking about how she was his ‘little princess,’ Eric reached from behind his seat and pulled out a plastic crown!
